Mark had humble beginnings just as many entrepreneurs have. He started his quest into real estate in 2008 right at the beginning of the Financial Crisis. He spent nearly two years building his knowledge and understanding of real estate investing before having the confidence to take action.
In 2010, Mark along with his partner, officially purchased their first house. They went on to close a new real estate investment deal each month for a year straight.
In 2011 he broke off his partnership and went out on his own. He doubled his previous year, flipping over 20 homes. Business grew year by year and in 2019 Mark and his team purchased 110 houses.
That was the point when he realized he didn’t want to have a large business. He scaled back to just himself and his assistant and began focusing on quality over quantity.
Mark says “Many Investors have huge success on a small scale and do very profitable deals… then they try to scale and ‘corporatize’ their business. This requires them to build huge teams and work on extremely thin margins. They end up sacrificing time and freedom in the pursuit of more money…. When time and freedom is what we all want when starting out.”
He lives in Des Moines, Iowa with his daughter Isabelle. Mark is a voracious reader and values his growth, health, relationships, wealth and travel
